Fine Art Inspired Throw PIllows

Art as Soft Furnishings - Fine Art Decorative Pillows - Beautiful!

What a great way to celebrate a favorite painting - buy a throw pillow that's illustrated by it. I don't know about you, but I certainly can't afford a Klimt, Van Gogh or Picasso and yet I can now enjoy having one of them (or many other great artists) in my home. Art inspired throw pillows are simply gorgeous creations based on the works of masters like Monet, Turner, Degas and more.

I've arranged the artists featured in alphabetical order so that you can find your favorite quickly and I must apologize if your favorite artist isn't featured, unfortunately I couldn't find throw pillows featuring all of them.

These throw pillows are a great quality throw pillow and are made by American MoJo from 100% A Grade woven cotton. They are great for anyone who appreciates art, but they'd make an especially cool gift for anyone graduating Art School.

Sandro Botticelli Throw Pillows

Botticelli was a famous Italian painter from the Early Renaissance period and his most famous painting would have to be (in my opinion anyway) the Birth of Venus - the second throw pillow here actually captures part of that painting in detail.

Gustave Caillebotte Throw Pillow

Caillebotte was a French painter who is associated with the Impressionists although if you look at his paintings you'll see he actually paints in a more realistic style than other Impressionists. I personally love his Paris Street, Rainy Day which is depicted on the throw pillow below, I'm no art expert, but to me it seems to embrace realism and vintage style.

Edgar Degas Throw Pillows

Whenever I think of Degas I think of ballet dancers and with very good reason - over 50% of his works were of ballet dancers!

Philip Leslie Hale Throw Pillow

Philip Leslie Hale was an American impressionist painter, I must admit I hadn't heard of him until recently, but his image of The Crimson Rambler that's depicted on the throw pillow below is gorgeous and I think the throw pillow will make a great gift idea for my mother.

Fernand Khnopff Throw Pillow

Khnopff was a Belgian symbolist painter he has some interesting paintings - the Caress comes to mind, but the only painting of his that I could find on a throw pillow is the one below which on a personal level I find very depressing.

Gustav Klimt Throw Pillows

The Kiss by Gustav Klimt throwpillowThe Kiss (detail) by Gustav Klimt throwpillow I've featured the Kiss by Gustav Klimt here because it was the first of his paintings I became aware of. I had heard of his name and I knew he was an artist, but it wasn't until I was in my 40s and watching a movie that featured The Kiss that I actually realized was one of his pictures. I am sure I have probably seen his work before, but not been aware of it.

Edouard Manet Throw Pillows

A French painter Manet is credited with being one of the pivotal painters who led the transition from Realism to Impressionism.

Claude Monet Throw Pillows

Monet is one of my husband's favorite artists and one of the first pictures we brought as a married couple was a print of Monet's Water Lilies.

Alphonse Mucha Throw Pillows

Mucha was a Czech Art Nouveau painter who I've only recently 'discovered' and I must say that I love his style especially when it comes to some of the art he produced for advertisements. I had been a fan of a couple of these before I realized that they were by Mucha!

Joseph Turner Throw Pillows

Turner was an English painter who elevated landscape painting so much that he's one of the artists we were told about at middle school! I can still see some of his paintings in my mind mainly the one's at sea as opposed to the images you can get on these cool throw pillows.

Vincent Van Gogh Throw Pillows

Everyone has heard of Van Gogh and many of his works are instantly recognizable outside of the art community - paintings such as Starry, Starry Night and the Sunflowers for example. I, personally love Van Gogh's use of color particularly with his Starry Starry Night, Cafe Terrace at Night, Vincent's Bedroom in Arles and Landscape near Arles.

Jan Vermeer Throw Pillows

Vermeer was a Dutch painter who specialized in domestic interiors depicting scenes from middle class life. On a personal note the only painting that immediately springs to mind when someone mentions Vermeer is the Girl with a Pearl Earring which is why I'm so happy it's one of the images available on a throw pillow.

Leonardo da Vinci Throw Pillows

Leonardo da Vinci is another artist that needs no introduction - he was much more than just an artist in his life and there's too much to be said about him than I can fit on a single webpage so I'll just let his art do the talking on this throw pillows -
